A revered theatre designer and a beloved member of both the Fredericton and St. Andrews communities in New Brunswick, passed away on June 10, 2023. With a career spanning nearly five decades, Patrick’s imaginative and detailed scenic and costume designs left an indelible mark on stages across Canada and the United States. His legacy includes notable work with the Stratford Festival, Shaw Festival, Neptune Theatre, and Theatre New Brunswick, among others.
A graduate of the University of New Brunswick, Patrick also dedicated part of his life to teaching, sharing his expertise at the University of Victoria and Dalhousie University. His excellence in design was recognized with multiple awards, including three Merritt Awards and a Jessie Richardson Award. He was a distinguished member of the Royal Canadian Academy and the Associated Designers of Canada.
Beyond his professional achievements, Patrick was cherished as a friend and neighbor, known for his warmth and kindness. He took his design expertise, his love for history, and his special sense of beauty to restore both his homes, leaving a lasting mark in these communities. His contributions to the arts and his community will be fondly remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rest in peace, Patrick. Your artistry and friendship will be greatly missed.
